Bio
James Rawson, Born 1989, Norfolk, he is known for his use of raw, natural materials to create large-scale textured paintings and objects. the work has a focuses on reflecting nature through blurring the lines of nature, painting and sculpture.
He captures an emotive power within the simplicity of materials, James describes his work as ''creating a feeling of connection'' for the carbon based works and adding ''you could think of them as black mirrors'' in response to the carbon cycle. His method for creating each work is something which is completely un-repeatable being a spiritual process between the artist and his material. His works become memories and relics symbolic of the artist’s conversation with the raw material that brought them into creation.
‘‘They are exquisite executions of simplicity, surface texture and the play of light. Cast into geometric forms, their monolithic appearance reaches an ancient part of the human soul, evoking existential feelings of ancestral worship.’’ _James Rawson
